About Intel i7-5775 Processors

Intel i7-5775 processors were first released in Q2 of 2015. It is almost 10 years since the processor was first shipped by Intel. Both, Intel i7-5775C and i7-5775R are no longer active. The processors are part of the ‘Boardwell’ family of Intel core processors.

Will my i7-5775 computer stop working after October 2025?

Windows 10 will become end-of-life (EOL) on 14 October 2025. This means that your Windows 10 computer will not have access to security updates to patch security vulnerabilities in Windows 10.

However, your computer will continue to work sans security updates. The lack of security coverage of i7-5775 systems will expose the computers to security vulnerabilities and threats detected after 14 October 2025.

Running the operating system without security updates can lead to security compromise of the computer.

Can I continue with Windows 10 after October 2025?

Yes, you can continue to run your computer on Windows 10 after 14 October 2025. For this you will need to take the following steps:

  • Upgrade your Windows 10 installation to Windows 10 22H2 edition.
  • Enroll in the Extended Security Update program for Windows 10.
  • You can buy extended security updates for Windows 10 for a minimum period of 1 year and maximum period of 3 years.
  • The Windows 10 ESU program is a paid program.

Can I install Windows 11 on i7-5775 computers?

Microsoft offered a workaround involving registry keys to install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware. We do not recommend installing Windows 11 on i7-5775 because of the following reasons:

  • Access to security updates for Windows 11 is not guaranteed
  • Due to inherent hardware and software incompatibilities, there is a strong possibility of the system malfunction.

Therefore, for Windows 10 computers based on i7-5775C or i7-5775R processors, the best option is to either enroll in the ESU program or get a new computer with pre-installed copy of Windows 11.
