We see that there are 55 processors in the Intel i5 4th generation. All these processors were released way back in 2013 and 2014.
None of the i5 4th generation processors are compatible with Windows 11 operating system.

All these processors were released between 2013 and 2014. And these processors have been discontinued by Intel long time back.
When we say that Intel i5 4th gen processors are not compatible with Windows 11, we imply that:
- You are unable to update from Windows 10 to Windows 11 through Windows Update program
- You are unable to install Windows 11 without making registry tweaks.
Installing Windows 11 on unsupported processors like Intel i5 4th generation is not recommended for the following reasons:
- Access to Windows 11 security updates is not guaranteed on unsupported computers and processors
- There is a higher possibility of system malfunction due to inherent incompatibilities between software and hardware
If you are running Windows 10 operating system on Intel i5 4th Generation Processors, you need to be aware of the EOL status of Windows 10 below.
When does Windows 10 become End of Life?
Windows 10 will become end of life on 14 October 2025. After October 2025, access to security updates for Windows 10 will cease to exist. You do have an option to enroll in a paid subscription of Extended Security Updates for Windows 10.
Alternatives for Intel i5 4th Generation Processors
For Intel i5 4th generation processor based computers, there are not many options available.
Get a new computer
Buy a new computer with preloaded Windows 11. This costs more. But, it offers long term hassle free period of ownership.
Upgrade processor
You could also consider swapping Intel i5 4th generation processor and motherboard with a set of Windows 11 compatible processor and motherboard. This saves cost of hard drive, peripherals, and display monitor. However, you would need to ensure that your computer’s hardware is compatible with other hardware requirements for Windows 11.
Keep running Windows 10
After Windows 10 becomes end of life, your system will continue to work sans security updates. So, you may keep running Windows 10 on such computers (not recommended). You need to be aware of the risks associated with running an insecure operating system as it is prone to increased security risks.
Should I install Windows 11 forcefully?
Technically, it is possible to install Windows 11 on unsupported computers using registry tweaks and modification. We do not recommend doing this for business users and computers. It is not worth installing Windows 11 on unsupported computers due to lack of security updates for Windows 11 on unsupported hardware.
