Intel Celeron J4105, Celeron J4115, Celeron J4125 – Windows 11 Compatibility

We talk about Windows 11 compatibility of J Series Celeron processors from Intel below. Specifically, we are looking at the following J Series Celeron processors:

  • J4105
  • J4115
  • J4125

These 3 J series Celeron processors from Intel are compatible with Windows 11. You could refer the page listing these processors as Windows 11 compatible processors.

There is a small catch though.

Intel Celeron J4125 processors support upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11. On a similar basis, J4125 Celeron processors also support Windows 11 on computers that come preloaded with Windows 11. Both fresh installation and upgrade to Windows 11 are possible on Celeron J4125 processors.

In other words, J4125 processors can support factory installations of Windows 11.

However, for Intel J4105 and J4115 Celeron processors, only upgrade path is supported. Microsoft has clearly mentioned the following caveat for J4105 and J4115 Celeron processors:

Devices with these CPUs may not be manufactured with Windows 11 pre-installed and may only be upgraded to Windows 11 by a customer.

J4105 and J4115 Celeron processors are in a unique position as they afford an opportunity to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 using the Windows Update program. For most people, this would be sufficient to experience Windows 11.

Still unable to upgrade?

Assuming you have Intel Celeron J4105, J4115 or J4125 processors, you would be able to upgrade to Windows 11. If you are running into issues while upgrading to Windows 11, there is a possibility that your computer’s hardware resources may not be fully compatible with some other hardware requirements for Windows 11.

For example, your computer may have inadequate RAM. Or, the display card may not be compatible with DirectX 12 standards.

For your reference, the full hardware requirements for installing or upgrading Windows 11 are shared below.

Processor1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC).
RAM4 gigabytes (GB)
Storage64 GB or larger storage device Note: See below under “More information on storage space to keep Windows 11 up-to-date” for more details.
System firmwareUEFI, Secure Boot capable. Check here for information on how your PC might be able to meet this requirement.
TPMTrusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0. Check here for instructions on how your PC might be enabled to meet this requirement.
Graphics cardCompatible with DirectX 12 or later with WDDM 2.0 driver.
DisplayHigh definition (720p) display that is greater than 9” diagonally, 8 bits per colour channel.

It may be worth checking if the hardware on your computer is compatible with all these hardware requirements.
