Having said that, there are limited options for Celeron J3455 based systems after October 2025. We give a quick look to the exact options available for such users whose Windows 10 computers are expected to become end of life.

Get a new computer

The costliest but safest approach is to get a new system with a compatible operating system. You could choose to go with a new computer that comes with preloaded Windows 11.

This will assure access to security updates until October 2030.

Get Extended Security Updates

Microsoft will unveil an ESU program or the Extended Security Update program for Windows 10. The ESU program provides Extended Security Updates for Windows 10 to cover any newly detected security vulnerabilities.

The ESU program is a paid subscription that can be bought for a period between 1 to 3 years. For more details about the Windows 10 ESU program, refer this page.

Do Nothing

For users who are not willing to get a new computer or a subscription to the ESU program, there is an option to continue using the Windows 10 computer after October 2025. This will be without access to any security updates.

Your computer will be, however, prone to cyberattacks and malicious activities of hackers. For business users, this may not be the acceptable solution. For students and hobby computers, one could consider continuing using Windows 10 sans security updates.

We strongly suggest that you must weigh in the potential consequences of running a computer without security updates.

Install Linux

For people who are comfortable working with Linux operating system, this could be a good opportunity to transition out from Windows 10 and embrace one Linux distros.

This looks daunting and is suitable for tech-friendly people only.

Forceful installation of Windows 11?

Some people may choose to install Windows 11 on incompatible systems. Microsoft has made it technically possible to install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware.

We do not recommended this because of the following reasons:

  • Access to Windows 11 security updates is not guaranteed for such systems
  • Due to inherent software and hardware incompatibilities on such system, there is a possibility that your computer may malfunction.

Our recommendation

Our recommendation is to get a new computer with Windows 11 preloaded. This ensures continued access to Windows 11 security updates for another 5 years. It is a costlier proposition. But, it does afford you a longer period of hassle free ownership of computer.
