Microsoft made it possible to install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware by tweaking the registry. You could do a clean install of Windows 11 on unsupported computers. We do not recommend installing Windows 11 on unsupported Latitude computers due to the following reasons:

  • Access to security updates for Windows 11 is not guaranteed for unsupported hardware
  • There is a higher possibility of system malfunction due to inherent incompatibilities between the hardware and software.

Dell XPS running Windows 10

Dell XPS desktops or laptops running Windows 10 need to be aware of the end of life or the EOL status.

Windows 10 becomes end of life on 14 October 2025. You will not get security updates for Windows 10 after that date. This requires further action or deliberation on your part.

For XPS computers compatible with Windows 11, you must upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 before 14 October 2025.

For XPS computers incompatible with Windows 11, you have an option to enroll in a paid subscription of Extended Security Updates for Windows 10. Extended Security Updates are released every month. You could buy subscription to the ESU program for a period between 1 to 3 years.

Alternatively, you may choose to do nothing and let your XPS computer run without extended security updates for Windows 10. This is not a recommended solution as your XPS computer will be prone to higher number of risks. However, Windows 10 will continue to work after 14 October 2025 sans security updates.
