  • Chrome browser stable channel is now on build 139. Until July, Chrome worked on build 138.
  • We have had 4 iterations of Chrome security updates in August. There has been an update on 5 August, 12 August, 19 August and now 26 August 2025. The last one fixes a CRITICAL security vulnerability.
  • On 26 August 2025, Chrome got a resolution for a CRITICAL security vulnerability and the browser is now on 139.0.7258.154/155. Details of the vulnerability are shared below.

  • On 12 August 2025, a new iteration or a new security update for Chrome browser was released. It pushed the stable channel version for Chrome to Version 139.0.7258.127/.128. It resolved 6 security vulnerabilities. 5 of these security vulnerabilities are publicly disclosed and patched in the build version 139.0.7258.127/.128.
  • The initial security update was released on 5 August 2025 wherein the stable channel version for Chrome was Version 139.0.7258.66/67. It resolved 12 security vulnerabilities. 8 of these security vulnerabilities are publicly disclosed and patched in the build version 139.0.7258.66/67.

The security update for 26 October 2025 resolves a CRITICAL security vulnerability.

  • CVE-2025-9478: Use after free in ANGLE.

The security update for 19 August 2025 resolves one security vulnerability reported by the Chromium project:

  • CVE-2025-9132 – HIGH severity – Out of bounds write in V8

The security update for 12 August 2025 resolved the following 5 security vulnerabilities reported by the Chromium project:

  • CVE-2025-8879 – HIGH Severity – Heap buffer overflow in libaom
  • CVE-2025-8880 – HIGH Severity – Race in V8
  • CVE-2025-8881 _ Medium Severity – Inappropriate implementation in File Picker
  • CVE-2025-8882 – Medium Severity – Use after free in Aura
  • CVE-2025-8901 – HIGH Severity – Out of bounds write in ANGLE

The latest security update does report 3 HIGH severity vulnerabilties. Therefore, it is important to update Chrome to the latest build at your earliest convenience.
