Vestas Data breach compromises internal systems

Vestas is the Danish wind turbine manufacturer. It has reported a data breach through a statement released on its website. The data breach affects internal IT systems of the company. The company is in the middle of a security and forensics investigation. Such an investigation will confirm the exact scope, depth and impact of the data breach incident on the company’s IT infrastructure. There has been no confirmation from the company in terms of the type of data that has been compromised.

Vestas initiated a security audit, and brought down its IT systems for surveillance, tracking and auditing reasons. The company had forewarned about an impending shutdown of its systems vide a statement released on 20th November. It is in the process of restoring IT infrastructure gradually, and in a phased manner.

Vestas has also confirmed that its third party operations remain unaffected with the data breach. Supply chain and customer interactions continue unaffected. Manufacturing, construction and service operations are also running fine. The current scope of the impact is on the key IT infrastructure parts.
