Microsoft Edge 119.0.2151.58 released for Windows

Microsoft has released an update of the Stable Channel Edge build 119 on 9 November 2023. This update supersedes the Edge update released on 2 November 2023.

  • Microsoft released the latest version of Edge browser 119.0.2151.58 on 9 November 2023 for the stable channel.
  • The latest Edge Version 119.0.2151.58 supersedes Edge Version 119.0.2151.44. Edge version 119.0.2151.44 was released on 2 November 2023.
  • Edge version 119.0.2151.58 resolved two Edge-specific security vulnerabilities.
  • Edge version 119.0.2151.58 also resolves a single security vulnerability that affects the Chromium project.
  • Edge version 119.0.2151.58 corresponds to the Chrome stable release version for Windows version 119.0.6045.123/124. Chrome was updated to 119.0.6045.123/124 on 2 November 2023.
  • The Extended Stable Version of the Edge browser has been updated to version 118.0.2088.102.
  • The corresponding Extended Stable Version of the Chromium project is 118.0.5993.136.

These updates are expected to be rolled out over the next few days.

Edge version 119.0.2151.58 resolves a bug in the Chromium project. It also resolves two Edge-specific security vulnerabilities. The details of these security vulnerabilities are listed below.

  • Vulnerability – CVE-2023-5996
  • Use after free in WebAudio in Google Chrome (Chromium project) prior to 119.0.6045.123 allowed a remote attacker to potentially exploit heap corruption via a crafted HTML page. The Chromium project attaches a HIGH severity to this vulnerability.

The threat was tracked as a Chromium bug 1497859.

The latest version of Microsoft Edge can be installed automatically. For this, you can close the browser and open it again. This should force Edge to pull the latest updated version.

Edge can be also updated manually. For this, you can download the offline installer file for Microsoft Edge from the Microsoft Update Catalog site.
