Google security update for critical vulnerability – Version 94.0.4606.61 released on 24th September

Google has released a new security update Version 94.0.4606.61 on 24th September, 2021. This update specifically seeks to remediate a critical vulnerability that allowed a remote attacker to hack the Chrome browser and cause a remote code execution vulnerability on the desktop.

While the full details of the vulnerability are unknown as these have not been publicly posted yet, the vulnerability has been assigned a CVE-2021-37973. The vulnerability is being currently actively exploited, as per the statement released by Google. Therefore, it becomes imperative to patch the Google chrome to the latest Version of the Google chrome build -94.0.4606.61.

The vulnerability was reported by the Google security team members -Clément Lecigne from Google TAG, with technical assistance from Sergei Glazunov and Mark Brand from Google Project Zero on 2021-09-21. The patch was released for a fix on 24th September, 2021.

The current vulnerability has been rated a zero-day vulnerability, thereby signifying an immediate patching requirement.
