Firmware version 23.10

Firmware update 23.10 has been pushed out to all the eligible Fenix 6 devices. Firmware update 23.10 resolved the following issues:

  • Fixed issue that could cause inaccuracies in the reported primary benefit for Training Effect.
  • Fixed issue where long activities were causing the watch to behave poorly.
  • Fixed potential inaccuracies in the Race Time Predictions.

Fenix 6 firmware version 23

Garmin Fenix 6 firmware version 23 was released in August 2022. It is a major stable version release of the firmware for Fenix 6 as it addresses many issues and bugs on the device. You can read more about Fenix 6 firmware 23 on this page.

The following issues have been resolved as part of the firmware version 23:

  • Fixed a potential issue where Battery Saver mode would randomly turn on after an activity or accessing a menu.
  • Fixed a potential issue where the device would prompt to update software even when system software is up to date.
  • Fixed an issue in the Strength activity that would display an invalid value when the set timer goes over one hour.
  • Fixed a potential issue where random text would be displayed on InReach messaging.
  • Fixed a potential issue where the Daily Floors Climbed Goal alert would not alert.
  • Fixed a potential UI issue where the watch face would only partially update.

  • Fixed an intermittent issue where using a hot key to open a timer from the Spotify app will return the user to an empty screen.

Fenix 6 firmware 22.10

Fenix 6 firmware 22.10 version was released in June 2022 to resolve issues on the firmware release 21.80. Firmware version 21.80 was a major upgrade for the Fenix 6 devices. The following issues were resolved in firmware 22.10 version for Fenix 6 devices:

  • The battery indicator may not work properly. It may show wild swings from full charge to low battery levels under 10 percent.
  • The watch may reboot in the middle of a running activity.
  • GPS may go off or show inaccurate GPS tracks for the activities.
  • The message notification or call notification vibrator may last for an extended duration of 20 or more seconds.
  • The watch screen may become grey intermittently.
  • The Fenix 6 watch may not show any heart rate readings.
  • Fenix 6 devices may not show any step counts.
  • Body battery scores and stress readings may not work anymore on the Fenix 6 watch.
  • The menu response on the Fenix 6 watch may look sluggish. Simple menu operations may take an extended time to respond.
  • You may be unable to connect the watch to the Garmin Connect app.
  • You may be unable to receive notifications from the paired smartphone on your Fenix 6 smartwatch.
  • The battery of the Fenix 6 smartwatch may drain at a faster rate. You may be out of charge in a day.
  • Temperature readings may not work.
  • Barometer feature may not respond.
  • Your watch may automatically disconnect the incoming call on the paired phone.
  • The watch may demonstrate abnormal behavior on any other feature after the firmware update to version 22.10.

Firmware version 21.80 for Fenix 6

Firmware version 21.80 for Fenix 6 is a major release of the firmware and was released on 6th June 2022. Since this is a major firmware release, it contains a lot of bug fixes and performance improvements. You can read more about the Fenix 6 firmware 21.80 on this page.

Firmware version 21.80 for Fenix 6 fixed the following issues:

  • Fixed an issue where Run/Walk/Idle total time didn’t equal Total Time displayed on watch/Garmin Connect (now all times when totaled should match Total Time).
  • Fixed an issue where the user could not delete a Strength workout from the device.
  • Fixed an issue with Metronome hotkey not working in the Walk activity.
  • Fixed issue in the Jumpmaster activity where the listed elevation data would not properly update.
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent the device from booting up properly.
  • Fixed a possible crash when completing Strength workouts that didn’t have any rep counting steps.
  • Fixed issue where “Battery in Days” would report 0 in Connect IQ apps.
  • Other minor improvements and bug fixes.

Fenix 6 firmware version 20.60

Firmware version 20.60 for Fenix 6 smartwatches was released in April 2022. This firmware update was immediately succeeded with beta release firmware version 20.85. You can read more about firmware version 20.60 for Fenix 6 on this page.

The following issues were resolved in firmware release 20.60 for Fenix 6 devices:

  • It addresses a bug wherein your Fenix 6 may end up in a boot loop. The wat may not boot up to a working state. Instead, it goes through an indefinite power cycle. It powers off, and powers on automatically.
  • The new firmware update allows you to reboot the device when the GPS becomes unresponsive. You get a separate prompt on the watch screen to reboot the smartwatch if GPS is not responding.

Fenix 6 firmware version 20.50

  • Fixed an issue on non-music devices that could cause a disruption of various metrics after being plugged into a computer.

The following issues were fixed in firmware release version 20.30:

  • Updated the software update process to allow the user to defer the installation. This replaces the automatic install during the user’s sleep window.
  • Improved altitude calibration.
  • Fixed intermittent issue where device would freeze when starting a round of golf.
  • Fixed issue that would cause device shutdown when editing HIIT data fields.
  • Fixed issue where the device would create empty golf scorecards.

Fenix 6 firmware version 19.74

Firmware version 19.74 for Fenix 6 was released in October 2021. You can read more about firmware version 19.74 on this page. The following issues have been fixed as part of the firmware release:

  • Updated the altimeter’s auto calibration to be either “On” or “Nightly”. Setting to “On” will set the device to periodically calibrate altitude throughout the day. Setting to “Nightly” will set the device to calibrate altitude at night and before the start of an activity.
  • Improved Explore Sync app waypoint load times.
  • Improved Lactate Threshold and Altitude Acclimation algorithms.
  • Improved measurement loading UI when taking an SpO2 measurement.
  • Fixed display issues on the device after navigating to a point initiated by the Garmin Explore App.
  • Fixed issue where selecting a single point on a map that contained multiple items would not display the items properly.
  • Fixed issue that would corrupt open water swim activity files.
  • Fixed issue where PacePro bands would not be recognized by the device.
  • Fixed issue with activities reporting incorrect Activity Calories and Training Effect data.
