Does Hostinger have Cpanel?

Hostinger is a web hosting company that offers shared hosting, WordPress hosting, Cloud hosting and VPS hosting. It offers price-friendly packages of all types. We look at the key aspects of web hosting with Hostinger.

Does Hostinger have Cpanel?

Yes, Hostinger does offer Cpanel. But the use of Cpanel is restricted to its shared hosting service offering only. Hostinger does not use Cpanel on WordPress hosting or Cloud hosting. Hostinger has its own custom dashboard. It is called the Hpanel. Hpanel can be used to manage all aspects of hosting at Hostinger.

Cpanel is a user friendly control panel. Most WordPress hosting plans are not based on Cpanel. This is because managed WordPress hosting requires special configuration and setups at the server level. WordPress sites ride on the underlying database. Therefore, to improve performance of managed WordPress sites, most WordPress hosts do not use the CPanel control panel. They prefer to use custom dashboards or user control panels instead. This is true for managed WordPress hosts like Kinsta and WP Engine.

Hostinger, therefore, restricts CPanel usage to shared hosting plans only.

Where are servers of Hostinger located?

Hostinger hosts at multiple datacenters all over the globe. It has datacenter locations in 7 different countries. As of writing this, Hostinger uses the datacenters at the following locations:

  • Netherlands datacenter in Europe
  • UK datacenter in Europe
  • Lithuania datacenter in Europe
  • Singapore datacenter in Asia
  • India datacenter in Asia
  • US datacenter
  • Brazil datacenter

Not all datacenters offer all the hosting plans.

  • CPanel shared hosting is available in Lithuania, Singapore, India, US and Brazil. Cpanel shared hosting is unavailable in Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
  • Linux VPS is unavailable in India and Brazil.
  • Shared hosting plans, Cloud Hosting plans and VPS Hosting plans are available at all the datacenter locations.

As a Hostinger customer, you can choose to host your website at a particular location. You could request a location of your own choice during the purchase process. Or, you could use Hpanel of Hostinger to migrate your existing hosting account to a new server location. Hostinger support takes care of the migration process for your website.

Does Hostinger have CDN?

CDN or Content Delivery Network is a network of datacenters that are spread across globally. These datacenter locations are also called as edge locations. The edge locations keep a copy of your website locally. Depending on the location of your website visitor, the most proximal edge location datacenter will show the static content of the website to the visitor. A CDN can be integrated with your website. A CDN provides following benefits:

  • CDN will reduce site load times as most static assets including images, CSS and JavaScript files are delivered from the edge location nearest to the website visitor.
  • CDN will reduce origin server’s bandwidth usage. Instead of using the server bandwidth, you will be making use of the CDN bandwidth.
  • CDN will also help in taking load off your origin server. This could reduce your hosting costs to a certain extent. However, we always suggest to scale your server to a higher capacity to prevent load issues.

Hostinger does not have a CDN network of its own. We mention this fact because some hosts like Siteground do have their own CDN network. However, Hostinger allows you to integrate third-party CDN networks through the HPanel control panel. You could choose any CDN provider.

From our experience, Cloudflare is the bigger CDN network in the world with 275 edge locations as we write this. You could use the free plan of Cloudflare along side your Hostinger hosting plan. If you like Cloudflare, you can upgrade to a Business plan that costs $20 a month.

Apart from Cloudflare, you could use Stackpath, WP Rocket or Fastly for storing static assets of your website. Hostinger does not restrict you to any particular CDN. It facilitates the integration of CDN network through the HPanel.

Does Hostinger have caching?

Caching is storing static copies of your website at various levels to improve website performance. A cache can exist at the server level, at the page level or at the CDN or Content Delivery Network level. There is also the database caching through objects caching.

We look at some key points about how caching is setup within the Hostinger web hosting offerings.

  • Hostinger makes use of Litespeed Servers. Litespeed servers use server side caching to improve performance at the server. If you use the Litespeed plugin or Litespeed client side panel for a WordPress site, you can further improve the performance of your WordPress site.
  • Hostinger suggests using a caching plugin for your WordPress website. It suggests using W3 Total Cache, WP Super Cache or Autoptimize. Caching plugins do add to performance scores on the Google Core Web Vitals.

Hostinger’s caching setup is to acceptable standards. However, there is a tremendous scope to improve caching at the individual site level and also at the database level. Apart from this, we have experienced that most small business owners and site owners run into issues while integrating caching plugins on the WordPress sites. W3 Total Cache, in particular, has a learning curve that will be difficult to climb for an average site owner.

It appears that Hostinger would do well to improve caching on its servers for better performance.

Summary

Hostinger is a decent web hosting company. The setup for shared, cloud or WordPress hosting is to acceptable standards. However there is a scope of improvement in terms of caching and CDN integration. Hostinger could be a good host if you are just starting up. With minimal traffic, Hostinger should work well for most websites. The challenge lies as the number of simultaneous users increases. That is where performance tweaks could help Hostinger in improving service delivery for the busier sites.
